Man, this Wii Fit thing’s sure taking it’s time getting here. The Wall Street Journal is reporting a release date of Might 19 here in the US, which should be just about the time that people begin going outside to exercise.

It was released in Japan on December 1 of last year and went on to sell more than 250,000 copies in the first week at roughly $75 a pop.

The game, you’ll recall, includes the Wii Balance Board and guides you through various aerobic, stretching, and strength training exercises.

Okay, so every major provider now has unlimited access plans. But what do you really get with each provider, and for how much? Here’s everything broken down into a single chart. Note: These are for your phone only, and don’t include tethering.

It looks like AT&T has the ideal deal, at $135 for unlimited voice, messaging and data, though it’s capped at 5GB a month. Verizon’s is $15 more a month, but it’s got superior coverage. Sprint’s unlimited requires a separate Power Vision or Blackberry data plan for smartphones, otherwise it might come out on top. And well, T-Mobile doesn’t have 3G. So, nothing to really jump providers for, yet, since there’s more than flat pricing to consider.

You know, I’m something of a nerd, but I wouldn’t be calling these girls anything. At least nothing I’m allowed to post on this blog. Fellow geeks: you can do better on your own. ShareThis

Spring is right around the corner, and with it Mario Kart Wii, the latest version of Nintendo’s seminal racer. Nintendo let IGN play with it for a minute (actually, under an hour, I only used “minute” to sound worldly); IGN liked the game. The Wii steering wheel, eh, that took some getting used to.

First, the game itself. You’ve played it already, several times and on several different platforms. It’s the same old game, which is to see it’s mindless fun. There’s no snaking this time around, however.

Back to the wheel. Nintendo assures us that it’s the preferred option of its game testers, though IGN admits to a rather steep learning curve. You have to get to know where the “dead zones” are, where the “center” is and feel out the turning radius. There’s only minimal force feedback (the rumble of the Wiimote itself), so that’s another knock against it. Sounds like one too many hoops to jump through to me, but more patient gamers are probably superior off going this route.

Again, she’s out this Spring. Exactly when that means, who knows.
