In this week’s episode of I Survived… contestants found themselves on an elaborate interconnected exercise bike/conveyor belt contraption. The object of the game is for the tricyclist, peddling on and against a moving belt, to remain in the prize zone for as long as possible. His or her teammates peddle on stationary bike beside the belt, and the faster they go the slower their triker is, uh, conveyed. When the belt goes too fast or the contestants wear out, the tricycle rider is dumped into a pool of freezing water.

The concept seems more like a Greek mythological punishment than a game show challenge. The crime: conspiracy to further destroy American television. Stay tuned for more game show gadgetry next week. [ABC]

Hey, look at that fancy guitar there, wouldja? That’s what you’ll get if you purchase Rock Band 2 when it comes out in the fall. If you already own the first Rock Band and you bought any songs for it, they’ll all transfer over to Rock Band 2. Glory be!

Kotaku tells us that you’ll also get new drums with “a metal reinforced pedal, quieter pads, velocity sensors” and it’ll also be wireless. The guitar itself will also be wireless and feature a “sturdier strum bar” and “quieter buttons.”

As for the game, there will be new mini-campaigns, custom set lists, On the web World Tour, and a new feature called “Drum Trainer,” which I applaud. Know why? Because Rock Band actually sort of instructs you how to play drums in real life. Playing real-life guitar is a different story. I remember spending a few hours learning how to beat the Say It Ain’t So guitar solo on Expert mode (or whatever the hardest level is) and wondering to myself why in the hell I didn’t just learn it on a real guitar.

Also, here’s a handful of the 80 tracks that have been confirmed…

2000s
Dream Theater “Panic Attack “
System of a Down “Chop Suey”

1990s
Foo Fighters “Everlong”
The Muffs “Kids in America”
Red Hot Chili Peppers “Give it Away”

1980s
Motörhead “Ace of Spades”

1970s
Cheap Trick “Hello There”
Elvis Costello “Pump it Up”
Journey “Anyway You Want It”

1960s
The Who “Pinball Wizard”

Looks okay, I guess. Music purists might not appreciate Dream Theater being involved with the game, as I comprehend the real-life band puts out some of the most mind-blowing and complicated music arrangements around – just to be boiled down to some well-timed button mashing – but I’m just a guy who types stuff all day long.

As we learned from Zero Punctuation, web comics are very easy to make. They involve a few basic things: a knowledge of the CE industry, an appreciation for its many absurdities, and the inability to draw. The results are somehting like SiliconApartment which has a basic premise: what if Steve and Bill had to live together. The resulting hilarity is fairly limited but it’s always nice to see Steve Jobs’ 5 o’clock shadow every once in a while.

Why be tethered to your Wii when the rest of your controllers are free to swing about and fly around your living room? Logic 3’s 32-key wireless keyboard lets you enter in names, messages and Wii Friend Codes like an expert, not a spastic ten-year-old swatting at invisible flies. It’s £13.99 ($27) when it’s released July 18 in the UK. [Twenga]

According to the Silicon Alley Insider Goldman Sachs states a “strong number” of executives surveyed say they anticipate to support the iPhone 3G within the next year. But before we sound the dirge for RIM, only 17% of the 100 execs surveyed gave the theoretical thumbs up to the handset entering their corporate walls. And as the Insider brought up, “supporting” a device isn’t exactly the same as recommending it or buying one for every worker.

Still 17% is strong, considering the devices relative immaturity and the vast resource that’s the enterprise market.
